KOTA KINABALU: The State Government officially handed 177 land titles totalling 1,933.09 hectares to Federal agencies in Sabah for the construction of schools, hospitals, police stations, fire stations and other necessary facilities and amenities on Thursday.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor said this is the State government’s commitment to ensure all Malaysians in Sabah benefit. He said this at the presentation ceremony in the State Administrative Centre (PPNS) near here Thursday.

Earlier, Lands and Survey Department Director Sr Bernard Liew Chau Min said all quit rent and land premium for the 177 titles had been fully settled by the Federal Land Commissioner to the State Government.

“The handing over of the land for the federal agencies usage is in line with Article 83 of the Federal Constitution,” he said.

Out of the 177 land titles, 90 were for the Education Ministry, 42 for the Health Ministry, 28 for the Transport Ministry and 17 others.

Hajiji presented the land titles to State Federal Secretary Datuk Samsuni Mohd Nor for the Transport Ministry, State Education Director Datuk Dr Mistrine Radin for the Education Ministry and Deputy Health Director Jackson Taguah for the Health Ministry.

Also on hand was State Secretary Datuk Sr Safar Untong.-pr/BNN
