KOTA KINABALU: Vice Admiral Datuk Syed Zahiruddin Putra Syed Osman, the outgoing Eastern Fleet Commander, paid a courtesy call on the Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Mohd Shafie Apdal at his office at Sabah State Administrative Center on Wednesday, June 20.
Syed Zahiruddin served as the first Commander of the Eastern Fleet based at Sepanggar for 1 year and 2 months. He will move to Kuala Lumpur where he assumes the post of Joint Force Commander.
His position here will be filled by Rear Admiral Datuk Abdul Rahman Haji Ayob, who is currently Commander Naval Region II in Sandakan.
Syed Zahiruddin had previously served as Commander Naval Region II in Kota Kinabalu from 2008 to 2009.
He briefed Shafie on the Royal Malaysian Navy’s operations in Sabah waters since the formation of the Eastern Sabah Security Command in 2013.
He also spoke on measures that will be undertaken in the future to ensure security in Sabah waters.-pr/BNN
