The 4X4 Educational Trip, a series of motivation programmes targeted at schools in rural areas was organised by the alumni’s education bureau headed by Dr Rafiq Idris, a Senior Lecturer at Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy, Universiti Malaysia Sabah.

Besides Dr Rafiq Idris, the program was collectively handled by Mr Rafley Abd  Rasit (Pusat Asasi Sains, UMS), Cikgu Hairin Mahat  and Sh. Suryati Wan Sarip (Teacher, SK Malinsau).
Dr Rafiq Idris said, “it is hoped that the program will help students to better prepare for the UPSR examination.”
“The school has been very supportive and its headmaster (Jamain Abdul Halim) and two assistant headmasters’ (Dahim Hj Reman and Bedy Sinporokot) hospitality were awesome,” he added.
With regard to the programme’s theme, emphasis of the motivation program was to increase awareness among students on the importance of having ambitions in life, applying time management and strategies for the UPSR exam.
Other activities were also conducted during the half day programmes, including motivation talk, group discussion with facilitator and video presentation among others.
This was the second programme under this 4×4 Educational Trip to SK Malinsau. More similar programmes would be organised this year.
Dr Rafiq Idris emphasises that La Salle Alumni and IIUM Alumni (Sabah Chapter) were very concern about education performances of students in Sabah and they were committed in organising more motivation programmes voluntarily  in rural areas this year.
“This is part of the alumni’s effort in giving back to the society. This has been instilled into us as La Sallians,” Dr Rafiq added.-pr/BNN
