TUARAN: Kaamatan Festival is a very special and important celebration especially for the Kadazan Dusun Murut (KDM) in Sabah, said Sulaman Assemblyman, Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor.
He said this celebration passed down from our ancestors is also celebrated together by other communities in this State.
He said that is the special thing in Sabah, including Tuaran district. When celebrate a festival, it will also be felt, joined and followed by people of various other races.
“The multi-ethnic communities in Sabah is already wellknown for lovely character and living in harmony since their ancestral time.
“We live in harmony through our highly valued culture. Thus we must continuously preserve the culture of our ancestors and our race,” he said.
Hajiji, who is also Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (BERSATU) Sabah Chief Coordinator, said this when officiating the “Mogi’ Imbang-Imbang” Kaamatan KIOSA Kupang Kampung Roun/Kiwatu 2019 held at di Kampung Roun multipurpose hall here yesterday.
BERSATU Tuaran Division Deputy Protem Chief, Abd. Kassim Razali, Persatuan Komulakan Lotud Sabah (KLOSA) President, Peter Lintar, Main Celebration Committee Chairman, Jefree Mian, and local community leaders were also present.
Hajiji said the indigenous people Sabah today must ensure that this tradition culture will continue to be practised by the younger generation, so they know this is the ancestral heritage that they simply cannot forget just like that.
He said the spirit of Kaamatan Festival celebration is always in the heart of every Lotud people and the KDM, especially in Tuaran.
“This is something they celebrate as a symbol of majesty of their culture. We must respect and cherish this, no matter who we are,” he stressed.
Hajiji also officiated the opening of Kampung Roun multipurpose hall during the event.-pr/BNN
