‘STREET SUNGKAI’ strengthen unity, good relations between community and leaders

TUARAN: ‘Street Sungkai’ can strengthen the unity and good relationship between leaders and the community so to liven up the Ramadhan month full of blessings, said Chairman of Kelab Belia Pekan Tuaran (TYTC), Mohd. Ghazali Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji.

He said unity and good relationship is very vital, particularly today where the community is dished out with various external perception about life.

“Although we have different ideologies, belief and religions, we need to always preserve unity and good relationship among us.

“Street Sungkai is meant to strengthen the brotherhood, foster spirit of familiness among us all. I hope this programme can be made as an annual event for all of us,” he said.

He said this at the Street Sungkai Programme held at  Pusat Ekonomi Sosial Anak Tuaran (PESAT), yesterday.

Sulaman Assemblyman, Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor, who is also Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (BERSATU) Sabah Chief Coordinator, State Youth and Sport Ministry’s (KBSS) Permanent Secretary, Haji  Mohd. Yusrie Abdullah, Tuaran District Officer, Mohd. Sofian Alfian Nair, Tuaran District Council’s Executive Officer, Jackley Gielbert, Tuaran BERSATU Division Deputy Protem Chief, Abdul Kassim Razali, and Tuaran BERSATU’s Srikandi Protem Chief, Puan Jamaliah Antalip, were also present.

Also present are Tuaran AADK Squad Chairman, Muhd. Zaineh Haji Jali, Tuaran KBSS Officer, Baxter Jilan, Tuaran Federal Youth and Sport Ministry Officer, Hamzah Md. Tahir, Sabah Youth Council Vice President, Kelvin Lo, community leaders, youth and sport in the district.

Mohd Ghazali who is also the Street Sungai Organising Committee Chairman said in fulfiling their rite of fasting, the Islamic community need to be reminded of the difficulty faced by certain members of the community who are less fortunate and living from hand to mouth.

“In deed our country has achieved progress in terms of development, but amid the rapid economic growth, there are those still living from hand to mouth.

“In the midst of growing urbanisation and growing progress in villages, there are those who are still poor. As we progresses towards becoming a high income nation, there are still poor group of people as well as the senior citizens who rely on assistance and services provided by the Government,” he added.

Looking at this situation, he hope community in the State will always be thankful of the abundance enjoyed by them.

“Always be thankful and practise moderatuin in life. If we have more, it is not wrong for us to assist those in need.

“In deed, it is undeniable that  Malaysias are very generous people and always willing to assist those who are in need by handing out donation and contribution, financially and in kinds.

“As an English saying ‘Help other, even when they can’t help you back’, assist others without expecting anything in return, let God repay us for all the good deeds done by us,” said Mohd Ghazali who is also Tuaran BERSATU’s Armada Protem Chief.

Street Sungkai Programme, a leisure form of activity and a potluck breaking of fast session, was attended by about 200 people of various races.

The programme was initiated by TYTC and gained support and cooperation from Tuaran AADK Squad, Sabah Youth Council, Tuaran Youth and Sport Ministry Office, Tuaran Federal Youth and Sport Ministry Office, Tuaran District Office, Persatuan Kabau Gawa, Tuaran BERSATU’s Armada dan Srikandi,Tuaran Atheletic and several other organisations.

It was filled with religious singing performances and presentations of contribution to the needy group, including chronic illness patients, by Haji  Mohd. Yusrie Abdullah.

Earlier, State Youth and Sport Minister, Phoong Jin Zhe, during his brief presence, also had light moments with all participants and youth leaders in the district.

He also visited PESAT home and listened to briefings about the centre and on the Kelab Taekwondo MBV Tuaran and the Kelab Olahraga TA Tuaran.
