KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Wanita Umno has advised Sabah Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Chief Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor not to humiliate Sabah Umno and hurt their feeling as members of the party, which he used to be part of as an assemblyman for several terms.
Its Chief, Datuk Dr Jainab Ahmad Ayid, said although many former Umno top leaders have left Sabah Umno but does not mean Sabah Umno has died.
“Sabah Umno has never practise denial syndrome as alleged by Hajiji. We did not denied there are many and even half majority of Umno leaders including its wing leaders, together with our members, have left Umno to join other parties.
“It is true and we do not deny there is a tsunami of migration by former Umno members into Bersatu. They go and bring together with them Umno administration data and membership list.
“That is why now they can easily register new members without having to go down to the ground to look for those who are interested (to join them). That’s why many Umno members made a report saying their names are written in the membership list of other parties,” she said, in a statement, Monday.
Jainab said Umno is presently in the process of doing a cleaning up, adding the Wanita and Puteri delegates meetings are currently in progress at the division- and main-levels.
She said for the Sabah Wanita Umno, thus far 13 of their divisions had successfully held their respective delegates meetings.
“Although the number of delegates are not as many as like previously but the Wanita Umno sense of loyalty are clearly shown,” she said.
Jainab also echoed Sabah Umno Chairman Datuk Bung Moktar Radin who said if Sabah Umno has no more members definitely they will not be able to successfully hold their delegates meeting at several divisions.
She said Hajiji was actually referring to themselves when saying Umno leaders have done a lot of mistakes like power abuse and corruption.
“They have left Umno for over a year. Presently Umno is no longer in power. Umno or Barisan Nasional are no longer the ruling government. So there is no power that can be abused by us the Wanita Umno.
“I think there is no need to dispute Umno strength or weaknesses. What is important is loyalty. What is the use to have a strong party but its members are not loyal.
“Whatever it is, we should not deny the contribution of Umno in Sabah. The development presently enjoyed by the people in Sabah are fruits of the effort made by the previous government,” he said.
