: The State Government has been urged to re-study the proposal to issue the Sabah Temporary Pass (PSS) to illegal immigrants in year 2020.

Sulaman State Assemblyman, Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor, said people in the State are worried about the implementation of the said policy.

He said to the people this policy seems to encourage the entry of foreigners into Sabah. I am of the opinion that this decision need to be re-studied.”

“We must have a stern policy so such entry of foreigners can be curbed and that they (illegal immigrants) feel scared to come and enter the State illegally.

“The State and Federal Governments must listen to the people’s view on this matter, what the people want is that they (foreigners) who came to Sabah illegally must be sent back to their country of origin, and if they intend to work in our State, they must have a valid document that have been processed or issued by their country.

“But this policy of issuing PSS is seen as encouraging foreigners to come in to our beloved State illegally. I can say that this policy worries the people in Sabah so much,” he said when debating the 2020 State Budget at the State Legislative Assembly here today.

Hajiji is of the opinion that those (foreigners) who came in illegally must be sent back to their country.

“The excuse that it is hard to trace them cannot be accepted because we have efficient security forces like the police and military, combined with the collaboration of the village heads, Chinese kapitans and also the management of developers (contractors) or plantations who can assist and provide information on their whereabouts and where they lives.

“If they want to work in the State, then they can come in legally with documents which had been processed and endorsed by the authorised party.

“We all understand that the State need many manpower to assist in making success the development of the State in various sectors, like the workforce for the infrastructure and plantation development, but we cannot implement a policy that the people don’t like.

“It is policy that seems being forced to the people to accept and this will definitely interrupt the wellbeing of the people who have been haunted by the influx of foreigners who came to the State illegally,” he stressed.

He hope the State Government will give serious attention to this issue, because if it is not dealt with appropriately it can jeopardise the government effort to provide total prosperity to the rakyat.

Hajiji also welcomed the RM5.2 billion allocated by the Federal Government to Sabah for development expenditure in 2020, which is quite a huge allocation for implementing development projects for the people’s prosperity.

He is confident that if this allocation can be benefitted fully, definitely it can resolved some of the development problems that required by the people all this time.

“I think the approval for this provision can be realised with the good relationship between the State and Federal Governments.

“I hope the implementation of the Pan Borneo Highway, the rural roads, school repairs, rural electricity supply, rural water supply and other important amenities can implemented using the RM5.2 billion allocation. I also hope the Federal Government can increase the allocation for Sabah in the subsequent year,” he stressed.-pr/BNN
