The Palace Hotel Kota Kinabalu held a Christmas Lighting Ceremony at their premises recently. The fun event saw their team members, friends and business partners came together to enjoy an evening of togetherness and good food. During the event, guests and the hotel team witnessed the lighting of a centre piece where the tools of the trade were exhibited.
During the event, the General Manager Chloe Loo, addressed the audience where she conveyed her appreciation for their constant support for taking time out to celebrate with them their first Christmas Lighting Ceremony.
She shared that the tree was not traditional as they wanted to build a bigger and different tree that would also mirror their Green Hotel values, the 4R- recycle, reuse, reduce and recover.
With the help of her Maintenance and Housekeeping teams, they built the core structure with recycled flooring and plywood, then gathered recycled items from all departments to showcase on the tree.
She said her teams’ effort turned an obstacle into an opportunity and “it truly proves that positive change can be achieved when unison is formed based on clear vision.”
“This time of the year is a great time to gather, unwind, reflect and to give thanks with a grateful heart,” she said adding that their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project this year was to collect gifts for children of the Bundu Tuhan Don Bosco Children’s Home in Ranau, through their Angel Tree.
“Pick a tag with the child’s name and age from the tree, prepare a present for the child. Once ready, attach the tag onto the gift and place it under this Christmas tree by 24th December,” she shared.
” You can write down your contact details on the tag for the child to thank you later or remain an anonymous Santa if you’d like. We will then visit the Home with all your presents and celebrate Christmas with them with food and fun activities.”
” It’s a meaningful activity that will warm the children’s hearts this festive season so I encourage all of you to pick a name tag today! Apart from that, we also have Christmas cupcakes selling for RM8 each, and 70% of the profit will go straight to organising the a Christmas party with the children.”
” As for Christmas Eve, we will have our extensive Christmas Eve Dinner Buffet, which will be bigger than tonight’s spread. There will be carolers from SDA church and a lucky draw with prize like a year free of gym membership and etc. Our usual Christmas popular items are lamb and turkey with cranberry and orange sauce, seafood paella rice, American beef pie, BBQ corner and croissant butter pudding with vanilla sauce.”
“This buffet dinner is RM119 per adult and RM60 per child. On New Year’s Eve, we have something fun planned. New Year’s Eve Dinner Buffet with complimentary glass of wine/ beer/ mock tail, lucky draw, live band performance, pool party and 2020 countdown lighting celebration led by myself and our team. Then followed by drinks promotion at our poolside. This buffet dinner is RM150 per adult and RM75 per child. We have a festive counter here for you to ask questions and make reservations. We hope you can support one of these events, we promise there will be full of good food and music.”
“This year, we are extremely blessed to have met many new friends in and out of the industry and have gotten a lot of guidance in things we have achieved. Currently, we are working on rebranding ourselves to present a new and better image to the public.”
She also shared that they were working hard on renovating their rooms, kitchen, conference rooms and garden, that would be open to all in-house guests.
