KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (BERSATU) support that the party’s Supreme Leadership Council (MPT) Chairman, President and Deputy President be retained.

Its Chief, Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor, said the BERSATU Chairman post presently held by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, as well as the President by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Deputy President by Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, must be retained.

He said apart from being the founders of the party, the leadership of the three leaders concerned are vitally needed by the party, particularly Tun Dr Mahathir, who is also the Prime Minister and an exceptional statesman, to continue leading the country.

“Sabah BERSATU has agreed and supported the proposal for the posts of Chairman, President and Deputy President be retained and not to be contested during the parti elections,” he said in a statement today.

Hajiji, who is also Sulaman State Assemblyman, was commenting on the  statement by Terengganu BERSATU for the holders of the three said posts be retained.

Terengganu BERSATU Chairman, Senator Datuk Razali Idris, had said Sunday that Terengganu has unanimously agreed that the posts concerned to be retained and not to be contested.

“So, we suggest that the other states will join us in this matter to retain the holders of the three said posts in the BERSATU MPT election to be held June this year,” he said.

Hajiji, who is also Tuaran BERSATU Division Chief, said Sabah BERSATU fully supported that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir continue to lead the party and the country.

“We hope the BERSATU members in Sabah generally and in the country, will continue to stand strong and support their leadership for boosting and strengthening the party’s struggles,” he stressed

BERSATU meeting at the branch-level will be held from February 15 to March 29, 2020, and the meeting at division-level is scheduled on April 18, 2020, while its Annual General Meeting (PAT) will be on 25-28 June.-pr/BNN
