KOTA KINABALU: The Movement Control Order (MCO) currently on its third stretch is redundant if members of the public are still going out in crowds.
Businessman and Borneonews CEO William Yeo in a statement said the MCO is a very good idea to curb the spread of the Covid19 virus.
He praised the Government for imposing it in its bid to break the chain.
“I am also impressed with the generous assistance that NGOs and political party members contribute to the needful and villagers, “he said adding that the commendable activities have been shown in the social media periodically.
He was however disappointed that members of the public were still gathering in large crowds.
“I saw the Viral photographs of crowds lining up in Inanam and the ITCC today and I was flabbergasted,” he shared.
“I was made to understand that they were there to collect items distributed by donors,” he added.
” If that is true, the organisers should arrange it in such a way that there’s social distancing and only a few people come and collect the donation at one time,” he said.
He stressed that what the photographs showed clearly went against the MCO and had the potential to spread the virus further.
“With such incidences it beats the whole purpose of MCO. With these scenes the shops might as well be opened,” he said.
He expressed his hopes that the relevant authorities will step up and stop such occurrences from happening in future so that the virus infection can be contained, effectively. -BNN
