KUALA LUMPUR:The Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Huazong) aspires to see the emergence of more professionals from various fields in the coming Sabah state election.
Expressing this, its president Tan Sri T.C Goh said this is so that once they get elected, they could help stimulate economic development of Sabah in various sectors.
Goh who is also the President of The Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) opines that besides holding firm to their own political ideologies, political parties should also strive to identify and field professionals of good integrity from various fields, in the coming state election, in order to meet the increasingly high demand of the voters.
He hopes that the coming state election will produce a caring, credible and competent government which has the people’s aspirations and plights in mind, and is sincere and fully committed to serve the people.
He acknowledged that, due to the far-reaching devastating impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, it has become even more pressing and urgent for Sabah to have a more stable, people-oriented, professional and dedicated government to better steer and prepare the state to meet the unprecedented challenges of the new norm.
He expressed this while commenting on the recent announcement by the Election Commission that the nomination for the 15th Sabah state election will be held on 12 September and the polling on 26 September.
“I believe once they get elected in the election, some of these professionals would then be appointed as members of the State Cabinet, and this would certainly help boost the quality and professionalism of the state administration towards providing quality services to the people, as well as to bring about greater socio-economic development to the state,” he said.
An acute businessman of vast experiences in various fields, Goh reiterated that with today’s advance technology, the internet and communication technology especially, the people at large are generally much smarter than before and their demand on the quality of elected representatives and the government too are increasingly higher.
“Hence, whichever political party or coalition that gets voted into power in the coming state election, must be prepared to establish a more professional and capable team to serve the people, and to deliver whatever promises that they made to the people during the election campaign,” he said.
Goh also hoped that all parties involved could exercise good discipline and strictly abide by the laws and regulations set by the relevant authorities, towards ensuring that the coming state election would be smoothly conducted in the true spirit of democracy.-pr/BNN
