Besides these contribution, Peladangnita and Peladangmuda were also accorded RM15,000 each.
According to NAFAS Board Member and Sabah State Farmers Organization (PPN) Chairman Datuk Mohd Nazri Abdullah NAFAS incentives for social responsibility programmes was given to all PPK nationwide.
“This time is different because of the contribution we give, we hold such a ceremony because we feel there is a need for us to strengthen rapport and friendship between leaders in this organisation at both the state and national levels,” he said during the NAFAS Contribution Presentation Ceremony and briefing Empowering Farmers Organisation Rules at one of the leading hotel here on Friday.
Speaking to reporters after the ceremony he shared that the rules in the Farmers’ Organisation Act 1973 (Act 109) would be reviewed to suit changes in times and circumstances as it was created a long time ago.
According to him the rule was slightly modified in 2019 but he still felt that there should be improvement over time, adding that a workshop would be held next month where they would convene to decide the best for the organisation and bring this matter to the ministry concerned.
“Among the aspects to be re-examined is the duration of the organisation’s leaders in holding office. In the existing act, it is stated that the farmer leader can hold the post for two terms and need to rest for one term, after which he can run again for the post. We feel that if the farmer leader is trustworthy and fulfill his responsibilities well, then he can continue holding the position without having to resign even after two terms,” he elaborated.
Also present at the ceremony was NAFAS Board Member Mohamad Bahrin Abd Karim.-BNN
