SANDAKAN: Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Elopura, Chan Boon Thian, said his focus is on the economy and healthcare sector for Elopura constituents.

Chan said that the only hospital in Sandakan which is a government hospital , and Sandakan Health Clinic are both located in Elopura.

“Hence, my personal manifesto, if I am given the mandate by voters, I will focus on healthcare in Elopura. I will focus on the upgrading and repairing of all healthcare facilities here. Then, I will try my best to realise the BN government’s vision of setting up a private hospital in Sandakan.

“Currently, patients from other close by districts also seek treatment at the hospital and health clinic here,” he said.

He said Sandakan is long awaiting for a private hospital, because the only government hospital is unable to cater to the growing needs of the local population.

Chan is a familiar face when it comes to attending to the people’s healthcare needs, as he is the Sandakan Health Clinic Advisory Panel chairman.

Meanwhile, Chan shared that the Bumiputera community in Elopura has shown positive response to his candidacy during his campaign trail with BN’s component parties, UMNO, Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) and its allies PBS.

He also said that his personal manifesto is simple, because he does not want to give empty promises to the people.

“If (I am) given mandate by the people, I will work hard to ensure the welfare of Elopura constituents,” he said.
