KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor was sworn in as Sabah’s 16th Chief Minister before the Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin at the Istana Negeri, today.
Hajiji who is Sabah Perikatan Nasional chairman and Sulaman assemblyman was accompanied by his three deputies Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Bung Moktar Radin, who won the State Seat for Lamag, beating four other contenders, STAR president Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan who won in Tambunan beating five other contenders and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) vice-president Datuk Dr Joachim Gunsalam who is Kundasang assemblyman after beating four others to the seat.
After the swearing in ceremony, Hajiji held a press conference at the Sabah Government Administrative Center Building (PPNS) where he announced that the main challenge ahead of them is the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic how best to curb it, and further address the problem.
He said he is the Chief Minister in an inclusive State Government and will serve the people of Sabah, regardless of differences in background and political affiliation.
“The trusts and responsibilities are enormous and challenging. I urge all parties, including the people, to unite for the sake of the State. My intention is to lead the people towards a prosperous Sabah,” he stated.
“Lets unite in peace, work together and realize the dream to create a developed Sabah and prosperous people,” he said.
