KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Vice Youth Leader Dexter Chin welcomed the recent press statements by the local authorities regarding the allowing of dine-ins.
He said that the local council authorities are shown to be following the guidelines and announcement made by the Sabah Chief Minister in implementing the Sabah Economic Recovery Plan.
Kota Kinabalu mayor Nooliza Alip assured that enforcers would not compound the operators but they have to observe the previous SOP pending endorsement of new SOPs by the National Security Council (NSC). Apart from dine-ins at restaurants, hotels and other eateries, hair salons and stalls selling vegetables, fish and fruits are also allowed as announced by the Sabah Chief Minister.
“This will allay fears and clear the confusion especially among the food services sector and the general public.  For that I commended the local authorities for their understanding of the people’s suffering and aware of the economic repercussions of a prolonged rigid movement control.
He thanked the public for not listening to rumours and fake news circulated by certain people whose sole purpose is discrediting, putting the government to shame and even creating chaos.
“Meanwhile, the relaxation to allow dine-ins must not be taken advantage of by the general public as an excuse to loiter, as we still haven’t won the fight against Covid-19.
“However it should be acknowledged as an act by the Sabah government to help thousands of workers return to work and solve the problem faced by workers in other essential services who need to eat out.
“Sabahans should be united and in solidarity with the government’s efforts and good intention for a better Sabah and fight for Sabah rights,” he said.-pr/BNN
