KOTA KINABALU: Within a year after GRS took over the Sabah government in September 2020, Kota Kinabalu air-conditioning skybridge is officially open for public use, in line with the tagline of “Sabah Maju Jaya”.
The technical problem of the construction works for the skybridge could neither be solved for more than 2 years under the then-PH federal government and then-Warisan-led Sabah government nor the Api-Api ADUN cum the then-DCM nor the KK MP, which is now solved by the GRS government.
The solution pursued by Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) has come to a fruitful conclusion, where the skybridge is now completed and operational.
It is officially launched by YAB Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor today. The launching ceremony this morning was withnessed by Sabah State Assemblyman cum SAPP president Datuk Yong Teck Lee and Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Abidin Madingkir and KK Mayor Noorliza Awang Alip.
The KK Skybridge with a total length of 400 metres connects Asia City and Oceanus is the newest landmark of KK city and expected to be another tourist attraction along the course to economic recovery post Covid-19.
Datuk Yong Teck Lee led the SAPP team, including ex-MP Datuk  Philip Yong Chiew Lip, Gee Tien Siong (Vice president) and Yong Yit Jee, (Supreme councillor) among others, met with the then-Mayor Datuk Nordin Siman to find out the problems about KK Skybridge issues, one day after the swearing in of Chief Minister YAB Datuk Seri Hj. Hajiji Hj. Noor.
SAPP then proposed a holistic solution where the balance 4.7 million ringgit will be settled by the Sabah Government, which was approved by the Chief Minister who officially visited the site in February 2021.-pr/BNN
