KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Oil & Gas Development Corporation (SOGDC) with Energy Industries Council (EIC),held an engagement between Sabah Local contractors that are registered with them.
SOGDC is a not-for-profit energy trade organisation with a membership of over 800 companies globally who deliver goods and services to the energy industries worldwide,  and EIC members comprise of international Oil and Gas Services and Equipment (OGSE) and energy players.
The purpose of the meeting was to provide an interaction platform for the potential collaboration amongst the domestic and international players for the projects that are currently undergoing Feasibility Study (FS), Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and Engineering Procurement Construction and Commissioning (EPCC) for the projects in SOGIP which could be potentially sourced to them.
With over 200 participants, the local companies  involved in the meeting include Sabah majority-owned companies providing a wide range of products and services such as civil structural, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation works that could potentially partake the process and non-process works in the projects.
Four (4) Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) between Sabah Local contractors and international OGSE players were also signed to form a partnership to collaborate and explore project opportunities in Sabah oil & gas market.
The MoU signatories include TAS Institute of Oil & Gas and EXS Synergy Sdn Bhd, Nuri Cerah Sdn Bhd and IDM Group Holdings Sdn Bhd, Sabah Oxygen Sdn Bhd and Firgee Engineering Sdn Bhd as well as Borneo Petroleum Alliance and Bumi Wangsa TMS Sdn Bhd.
During the meeting, SOGDC highlighted that it has always been the aspiration of the state government to ensure direct participation by local Sabahan players in the oil and gas industry.
Moving forward, SOGDC believed that this industry would strive with the presence of international players in the state oil and gas and energy ecosystem that would chart and eventually transfer the technology to  local players.
