KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) should make the upcoming state elections a platform to combat corruption.
United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) Youth Chief Felix Joseph Saang stated that this is in line with the Unity Government’s sincerity and commitment in its mission to fight corruption.
He emphasized that the people should choose leaders who possess integrity, vision, ethics, and transparency to lead, instead of selecting leaders based on corruption or money politics.
“There is no doubt that every election, especially in rural areas, we hear many stories where money politics often take place.
“Therefore, I believe that the elections in the six states this time are the best opportunity to demonstrate that corrupt practices and vote-buying can be eradicated,” said Felix in a statement.
Felix highlighted that MACC should remain committed and continuously monitor the elections to prevent any acts of corruption from spreading, especially during the campaign period.
He further added that the practice of corruption in elections not only has the potential to destroy the country but also inflicts harm and causes long-term damage to the people.-pr/BNN
