KOTA KINABALU: Shell has reversed an earlier plan to close down its petrol stations in
Sabah following a series of discussion with the State Government.

“The State Government welcomes the good news,” Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima
Haji Hajiji Haji Noor said, commenting on Shell Timur Sdn Bhd’s announcement not to
proceed with the closure of its 34 petrol stations in Sabah effective January next year.

Following Shell’s announcement of the impending closure last June, Hajiji met with the
chairman of Shell Malaysia, Siti Hurrairah Sulaiman to discuss the matter.
“We have brought this issue to the attention of the Federal Government, we appreciate
the Federal Government’s sensitivity to the situation in Sabah and we appreciate that
they have listened,” he said.-pr/BNN
