KOTA KINABALU, 5 October, 2023: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will be the guest-of-honour to officiate at the closing ceremony of the 38th National Chinese Cultural Festival (NCCF), on this coming Sunday, 8 October.
The 3-day gala performance cum closing ceremony of the 38th NCCF is held at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICCC), from 6 to 8 October. The NCCF was initiated by The Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Huazong) in 1984. Ever since then, the event has been organized by the Chinese assembly halls of various states on a rotational basis, each year. This year, The Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) played host for the 38th edition of the festival for the third time.
Tan Sri T.C Goh, President of Huazong cum FCAS said he had briefed the Prime Minister on the preparations of the said programme, upon his arrival at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA), on Wednesday. Goh was glad to note that both the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Mohd Noor, who was also present at the airport to receive the Prime Minister, expressed their full support for the NCCF and the gala event.
In a statement issued today, Goh, who is also Event Chairman of the 38th NCCF noted that the Organising Committee has invited Hajiji to the event, as its Special Guest.
Meanwhile, the Main Organizing Chairlady cum Deputy President of FCAS, Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen, disclosed that Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister, Datuk Christina Liew will be the guest-of-honour for the welcome banquet of the 38th NCCF, which will be held tomorrow, 6 October; Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security cum Member of Parliament for Kota Kinabalu, Chan Foong Hin will be the guest-of-honour of the opening ceremony of Mid Autumn Festival and floats parade, on 7 October; while Goh will be officiating at the opening ceremony of Food Festival cum Cultural Village.
She also gave a rundown on the key programmes of the three-day gala event cum closing ceremony which is held at the SICC, as follows:
6 October (Friday):
7pm: Welcome banquet for 38th NCCF. (Guest-of-honour: Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister, Datuk Christina Liew).
7 October (Saturday):
8am: Chinese chess competition
9am:Official opening of Cultural Village (Huazong President, Tan Sri T.C Goh as the guest-of-honour)
Official opening of National Chinese Calligraphy Competition
Official opening of Chinese chess competition
12 noon: Official opening of Food Festival (Guest-of-honour: Huazong President, Tan Sri T.C Goh)
1 pm: Songs and dance performance by the children
6 pm: Mid-Autumn Festival cum floats parade (Guest-of-honour: Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security cum Member of Parliament for Kota Kinabalu, Chan Foong Hin).
8 October (Sunday):
· 8am: Chinese chess competition
· 8.30 am: Children colouring contest
· 11 am: Prize presentation for children colouring contest
· 11.30 am: Prize presentation for Chinese chess competition
