KOTA KINABALU: The Consulate General of Indonesia (KJRI) in Kota Kinabalu has confirmed its participation in an upcoming event dubbed Big Sabah Sale to be held in Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) on 15 to 17 December.
Consul Machdaniar Nisfah, Minister Counselor of Information and Social Culture Affairs said that Indonesia will be showcasing various aspects of its culture and heritage during the event.
Indonesia’s participation will include the presentation of authentic culinary delights, fashion designs for Muslim women by designers from Bandung, and cultural and singing performances by students from the Indonesian School Kota Kinabalu (SIKK).
To highlight the culinary diversity of Indonesia, a special delegation led by Chef Winahyo from Jakarta will collaborate with Chef Firdaus of SICC to prepare traditional Indonesian dishes such as rendang, gado-gado, satay, soto, nasi goreng, and typical Indonesian desserts, she said.
The Indonesian delegation’s presence is part of the Indonesian National program, “Indonesia Spice Up The World,” aimed at promoting Indonesian culture globally.
For those interested in learning about cooking authentic Indonesian cuisine, the two chefs will be conducting a cooking demonstration and talk show on the evening of December 15.
In the field of fashion, the event will feature a collection by renowned designer Hennie Noer.
Additionally, SIKK students will showcase their talent with performances of the Saman dance from Aceh and the plate dance from Padang.
Consul Machdaniar Nisfah expressed hope that the collaboration between Indonesia and Malaysia during the event would further enhance bilateral relations in socio-cultural and economic aspects and strengthen the friendship between the two countries.-BNN
