According to Consul Mohamad Nurdin their services included consular services to their citizens, including passport issuance, visa processing, and authentication of documents. They also provide assistance in cases of emergencies, such as lost or stolen passports, accidents, or medical emergencies.
He said Indonesians working in Sabah can call the consulate for this assistance and advises towards resolving such issue, adding that this include citizens who are in the State without any documentations.
On Indonesians marrying locals, he said, “When Indonesian citizens marry Malaysian citizens, it is important for them to report their marriage to the Indonesian consulate in order to verify their marital status. This verification process is necessary to acquire a letter or certificate of marriage, which serves as official evidence of their marriage. By obtaining this document, Indonesian citizens can ensure that their marital status is recognized by both countries.”
To facilitate the reporting and verification process, Indonesian citizens can also register through the TEMAN BAIK KJRI KK app, he said adding this app provides a convenient platform for submitting the necessary application and viewing the required documents.
As for their citizens that pass away in Sabah, the consulate provide assistance and support to the deceased citizen’s family and handle various matters related to the death. Nurdin also shared that they had always advised their citizens to adhere to the laws of the host country when they are working here, however, Indonesian citizens who are convicted in Sabah will have to serve their sentence accordingly.
