KOTA KINABALU: The Luyang Community Development Leaders Unit (UPPM) led by Gee Tien Siong recently (16 May) paid a courtesy call to Kota Kinabalu Mayor Datuk Seri Sabin Samirah to present a series of proposals and discuss specific solutions for several important issues, including the removal of abandoned cars.
Gee expressed his appreciation to the Mayor for his swift and decisive action in instructing the City Hall (DBKK) to remove abandoned cars that had been parked for a long time in several areas of Kota Kinabalu last Monday.
He believes that this move will not only improve the city’s appearance but also prevent traffic obstruction, deter the breeding of pests, and indeed enhance the overall quality of the community environment.
In addition, the UPPM raised several issues that urgently need to be addressed, including:
1. Improving the sports facilities and children’s playgrounds in Luyang to provide local residents with a better environment for sports and recreation.
2. Addressing the hawker stall issue in Kinamount area, aiming to better regulate and improve the local business environment.
3. Resurfacing the roads in Kampung Kopungit to ensure the safety and convenience of residents.
4. Addressing the clogged drainage ditches in Taman Pelangi to prevent flooding and sanitation problems.
5. Restoring the historical archway on Jalan Istiadat in Likas to preserve our heritage.
6. Addressing the carpark issue at the Luyang Clinic.
Gee also expressed his hope that the Mayor and the City Hall will continue to work closely in the future to jointly promote and implement measures that are beneficial to Luyang, and optimise the livelihood.-pr/BNN
