KOTA KINABALU: Osimal Foundation, in collaboration with Malaysia Medical Association (MMA) Sabah Branch, has established the “Sabah Children Fund”.
A statement released by Osimal stated that the Fund aims to assist underprivileged children in Sabah who are undergoing any medical treatment. Assistance that will be provided for these children and their families include medical equipment, funding for special medications and formula milk as well as aiding in transportation needs to travel to clinic or hospital appointments.
In a ceremony on July 13, the Sabah Children Fund, represented by Datuk Nellie Sikodol (Trustee of Osimal Foundation) and Dr Brandon Patrick Senagang (MMA Sabah Chairman) handed 29 cans of anti-reflux formula milk to Dr Ng Su Fang, representative from the Sabah Women and Children Hospital.
This special formula milk will be given to underprivileged children who, suffering from
certain medical conditions, will require long term supply when they are discharged from the hospital.
Since its inception in April 2024, the Fund has also supplied an infusion pump to one of the patients discharged from the hospital.
The establishment of the Fund is one of the many charitable works of Osimal Foundation. Other projects by Osimal Foundation include construction of houses for poor families, providing scholarships for deserving students and financial assistance to families affected by natural disasters.
In a statement Osimal founder, Tan Sri Richard Malanjum said “Osimal is delighted to be able to set up the Sabah Children Fund with MMA Sabah. The fund is very much needed to serve children (and their families) who are aWected with chronic medical illnesses especially those from the underprivileged communities.
With donations from the public, the fund seeks to extend assistance to a more diverse population of children in need. In the near future, we are looking forward to assist children with chronic diseases such as thalassemia, childhood cancers and in the long run to tackle the issue of malnutrition in the children of Sabah, which unfortunately has among the highest rate in the country. We are also looking forward to work with the Malaysian Association of Paediatric Palliative Care (MAPPAC) to establish Sabah’s first children’s hospice in aid of children suWering from life limiting illnesses.”
He thanked MMA Sabah, under the leadership of Dr Brandon Patrick Senagang, for assisting
Osimal to set up this fund.
He also thanked generous sponsors who have so far contributed to the fund and hope the public may continue to contribute generously to this fund so that they may meet their objective to help children.
