KOTA KINABALU: The Minister of Communications Ahmad Fahmi Mohamed Fadzil said agencies under his Ministry are fully prepared to help should there be internet glitches in the city.

Speaking after launching the Pesta Seni Tradition In Tune 2024 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), , he said they aimed to guarantee reliable internet access within buildings and improve indoor coverage.

“While there are generally no connectivity problems outside, we occasionally encounter challenges inside, depending on our vendor. These issues may lead to minor disruptions during scheduled activities,” he said, adding that he had informed the Mayor Datuk Seri Sabin Samitah about this matter.

Internet interruptions may hinder the smooth execution of the programmes and activities during the Pesta Seni Tradition, scheduled for 17 and 18 of September at SICC which includes a captivating exhibition featuring an exhilarating e-sports competition and a virtual reality showcase.

This event presents a remarkable opportunity for young people from Kota Kinabalu and its surrounding areas to immerse themselves in a dynamic blend of art and technology. Participants can look forward to engaging experiences that not only entertain but also inspire creativity and innovation.

“I invite everyone to join this exciting arts festival. Come together to enjoy and witness the diverse exhibitions and competitions planned. It’s a wonderful chance to engage with the creative community and celebrate the intersection of technology and art,” he said.

Meanwhile, the organising chairman of the event, Jawed Khan, who also serves as the Chairperson of Persatuan Pentas Anak Seni Malaysia (PPASM), shared insights about “Tradition in Tune,” a celebration of Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage and its fusion with the innovative spirit of the modern age.

“It reflects the very essence of our national identity—proud and deeply connected to our roots. Yet, we remain forward-looking, embracing progress while cherishing our heritage,” he stated.

“This festival holds even greater significance. Through Pesta Seni Tradition In Tune, we celebrate not only the richness of our nation’s past but also our vision for the future—one where our cultural roots are protected, nurtured, and allowed to flourish, even as we explore the exciting possibilities of innovation and modernity.”

“The name ‘Tradition In Tune’ carries two distinct meanings. On the surface, it may seem focused solely on music, which is indeed a key element of this festival. However, the deeper intention behind this name is rooted in the idea that our traditions must remain ‘in tune’ with the younger generation. We aim to provide a platform that promotes our cultural heritage—not just within Malaysia, but also on an international scale in the near future.”-BNN
