KOTA KINABALU: ConocoPhillips Malaysia today announced a contribution of RM1,263,000 to the Women & Children Hospital (Hospital Wanita dan Kanak-Kanak, or HWKKS) in Sabah, reinforcing its commitment to the community.
The donation will fund the purchase of essential medical equipment and upgrades to hospital facilities, helping enhance care for mothers, children, and families across the state.
The handover ceremony was officiated by Connor Dunn, president of ConocoPhillips Malaysia, alongside Dr. Yogendra Panchalingam, director of the HWKKS, witnessed by Dr Abu Ubaidah Sainuri representing the director of Sabah State Health Department, distinguished guests from SMJ Energy, Internal Affairs & Research Department, head of departments and staff of HWKKS and ConocoPhillips.
HWKKS has been a cornerstone of maternal and pediatric care in Sabah since its establishment in 2003.
The hospital began operations in 2005 and was rebranded in 2009 to reflect its dedicated focus on women and children’s health.
Today, HWKKS serves as a major referral center offering specialized services in obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, pediatric surgery, oncology and emergency care.
It also houses Sabah’s first Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy Centre, launched in 2014, making it the only facility of its kind in East Malaysia.
The hospital manages thousands of pediatric cases annually and over 10,000 deliveries each year, underscoring its critical role in safeguarding maternal and child health across the state.
This contribution represents a collaborative effort to complement the hospital’s and the state’s initiatives to improve healthcare delivery.
“This is our contribution toward strengthening healthcare services for the community”,” said Dunn. “We
deeply respect the dedication of HWKKS and the State Health Department. Our goal is to support their efforts to provide the best possible care for families in Sabah.”
The RM1.26 million donation will be allocated to purchasing essential medical equipment to replace aging
assets and improve patient care and upgrading hospital facilities to create a safer, more comfortable environment for patients and families.
Since assuming operatorship of the Kebabangan gas platform off the coast of Sabah in 2025, ConocoPhillips has focused on building strong partnerships with the state and its communities.
Beyond its operations, the company is committed to contributing to education, health, and sustainable development as part of its ongoing community engagement programs.
