TUARAN: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor handed over food aid and hygiene kits to 150 recipients from the district – courtesy of Yayasan Petronas at the District Council conference hall here today.

The contribution was part of Yayasan Petronas’ Sentuhan Kasih Festive programmes in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

“I wish to express gratitude to Yayasan Petronas for doing its part to help the underprivileged in the community, particularly during these trying times of Covid-19 pandemic,” said Hajiji.

The Sentuhan Kasih Aidilfitri contribution was also presented to 150 recipients in Kinabatangan on the same day.

Also on hand was Head of Operations, Petronas Sabah and Labuan, Jasper Diego.

Meanwhile, Yayasan Petronas’ Sentuhan Kasih Kaamatan contribution will be delivered on 25 May each to 125 recipients in Kundasang and Nabawan.

For Labuan, the Sentuhan Kasih Aidilfitri and Kaamatan takes place on 24 May involving 150 and 100 families, respectively.

During the Chinese New Year in February, Yayasan Petronas had also contributed food aid and hygiene kits to 300 recipients in Kudat, Tenom, Kuala Penyu and Tambunan, as well as to 150 in Labuan.

This year Yayasan Petronas together the Welfare Department would be distributing food aid and hygiene kits to 5,400 underprivileged beneficiaries in all states nationwide.

“As our nation continues to address the COVID-19 challenges, Yayasan Petronas remains committed in supporting the underprivileged community.

“The festive cookies are meant to bring joy not only to the beneficiaries, but also to the local home-based bakers who are able to boost their income during the festive season,” said Yayasan Petronas CEO Nelly Francis Shariah.

Sentuhan Kasih Festive is a yearly programme that coincides with key festive seasons aimed at spreading joy and improving the quality of life for the underprivileged.

The programme is part of Yayasan Petronas’ community well-being and development focus area and is also in line with the Petronas Sustainability Agenda and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.-pr/BNN
