KENINGAU: The State Government has earmarked 8,000 acres of land between Tenom and Sipitang for avocado commercial plantation.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor said this is among many ventures the government looks out for to promote economic growth in line with the Halatuju Sabah Maju Jaya aspiration.
“We are exploring as many development projects as possible, which will be catalysts
for our economic growth,” he said.
Speaking after a development briefing by Keningau District Officer, Walter Kenson in
conjunction with his inaugural working visit here Tuesday, the Chief Minister was glad
to note that the district local plan had been done with SMJ as the guideline.
“I am glad to note the comprehensive plan for Keningau. The State Government sees
Keningau as the interior development hub due to its vast potential for agricultural
expansion,” he said.
Earlier, he approved allocations totalling RM3 million including for the upgrading of the
Holy Family Church Nulu Sosopon road here.
The approved allocation for the upgrading of the Nulu Sosopon road was RM1.5
million.
The rest of the allocation was for the repair of the Kauran Bridge, Kauran river bank
as well as for victims of the flood in the Kauran area.
Accompanying him were Rural Development Minister, Datuk Jahid Jahim, Special
Tasks Minister Datuk Arifin Arif, Minister of Youth and Sports and Sook Assemblyman,
Datuk Ellron Alfred Angin, State Assemblymen Datuk Annuar Ayub (Liawan), Datuk
Robert Tawik (Bingkor) and Flovia Ng (Tulid) and State Secretary, Datuk Seri
