KIULU: Politicians from both sides of the divide should put a stop to perpetual politicking and instead focus on working together to bring development to the state.
Kiulu assemblyman Datuk Joniston Bangkuai said that continuing political fights would only lead to the people’s agenda going astray.
“We must shift our attention to the people as they have put their trust in us (elected representatives) to bring better improvement.
“Now is the time for us to demonstrate our sincerity and ability to work together for a better and economically vibrant Sabah
“We may have different political ideologies, but when it comes to bringing changes for the benefit of the people and the state, we should all be together irrespective of our affiliation,” said Joniston, who is also Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) secretary-general and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) information chief.
Joniston was speaking at the handing over of food baskets donated by a good samaritan to needy families at Kampung Poring community hall here yesterday.
In addition, Joniston contributed face masks, Covid-19 sanitation and body temperature equipment to 11 places of worship in the area.
He said the GRS state government, under the able leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, is always attentive to the rakyat’s needs as evident from the RM2 million allocated to each State constituency this year.
Joniston also said that the GRS State government is strong and still has about four more years remaining to fulfill the mandate given by the people.
On another note, Joniston said although the number of Covid-19 cases appears to be decreasing, villagers must not be complacent and remain vigilant and continue to strictly comply with the standard operating procedures.
Meanwhile, Samulin Gosudang of Kampung Poring, one of the food package recipients, expressed gratitude that the contribution helped to alleviate her family’s burden.
“We are deeply moved by the generous gesture as well as the willingness of the good samaritan to come forward and provide us with food baskets.
“This will undoubtedly benefit the poor who have been severely impacted by the pandemic,” she said.
Joniston also made stops in Kampung Mantob and Libodon to distribute the good baskets with the assistance of village community leaders.-pr/BNN
