KOTA KINABALU: Real Beauty (RB) Unduk Ngadau 2022 has started with six early birds participants registered, both online and physical forms, since it started on March 10.
Rejanah Bahanda, CEO Real Beauty Sdn Bhd in a press conference yesterday stated that this auger well for the pageant which would be carried out online until early May.
According to her, they wanted to garner 30 participants only, to enable better management and judging as well as coordination, by designated judges.
“We cannot take in more as we want to focus on all participants. However, participants who aren’t selected among the 30 will be placed on the waiting list. Should any of the 30 failed to attend, we will notify those shortlisted to participate,” she said.
She shared that aspiring participants from March 19 onwards would have to pay the normal RM100 in registration fee as opposed to the early birds who paid RM80 each.
“We are doing a hybrid sort of pageant, as we will carry it out both online and physically. In this respect, we have outlined our own terms and conditions for participation,” she stressed.
“Participants are advised that if they withdraw after registering to compete, they will not be refunded the registration fee. Besides that, they must be aged 18 to 30 years old, single and have never been married. There is no limit for height, no religious discrepancies and of course only women can participate,” she shared.
According to her, participants must submit a video recording to introduce themselves speaking in their mother tongue. They should be wearing their traditional costume in the video which should be about 30 seconds long. The video must be shot in landscape with a minimum quality High Definition (1920 x 1080), The video should be shot in a white background with no accompanying music.
They should also submit a photograph of themselves.

“The semi -finals of this RBUN will be held online, while the Stage Final (Finale), will be carried out Visually (Offline) in the Department of Culture and Sabah State Arts (JKKNS) hall,” Rejanah said.
Voting for the participants would be carried out by the public with RM1 per vote. Votes for the Semi Finals: would be 50% for Purchase of Arby products, 30% through Facebook Star and 20% by SenangPay, she added.
“In the semi -final, participants will be exposed to local knowledge, that is of the people of Sabah. Activities available include charity visits in line with Real Beauty Sdn Bhd’s charity work, namely #Prihatin. They will also visit tourism spots in Sabah to promote tourism.”
“The total prize for Real Beauty Unduk Ngadau is RM50,000. There will also be 11 Subsidiaries title up for grab. Among them: Miss social media, Miss RBUN SuperStar, Miss Most Video Viewed, Miss Best Cat Walk, Best Evening Gown, Best Make Up Looks, Miss Arby’s Choice, Miss Photogenic, Miss Best Talent, Miss Body Beautiful and Best Ethnic Costume.”
