KOTA KINABALU: The internet coverage issues in Penampang and Kadamaian have caught the attention of the areas’ representative Datuk Ewon Benedick.
Ewon, who is also the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative, visited the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission headquarters here yesterday to listen to a briefing on internet coverage issues in the two areas he represents.
The briefing on the Communication Coverage Analysis for villages in the Penampang district and the presentation of the implementation of the National Digital Interconnection Plan (Jendela) in Sabah was delivered by Sabah MCMC Director Izani Othman, Sabah MCMC Director (Development) Reuben James Pailus and Director (Supervision) Suhaila Jaffar.
Also present were Deputy Director (Infrastructure Planning and Implementation Unit) Muhammad Rizal Abdul Lani, Deputy Director (Quality Monitoring Unit) Izan Afzan Selamat and Minister’s Political Secretary Carl Moosom.
According to the analysis of communication coverage based on the complaints from villagers in Penampang district, out of 21 villages that have internet problems, some villages have already been included in the construction of the new JENDELA Phase 1 tower.
The new towers under the Phase 1 JENDELA Plan are Kg Kipouvo, Kg Timpangoh, Kg Kibunut, Kg Togudon, Kg Buayan and Kg Timpangoh Sugud.
Meanwhile, the Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) project is in Kg Buayan, Kg Kibambangan and Kg Sarapong.-pr/BNN
