KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor, on behalf of the people of Sabah, congratulated Sultan Johor Darul Ta’zim, Sultan Ibrahim ibni Sultan Iskandar for being chosen as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong today.

“The people of Sabah welcome and wish His Majesty well,” he said in a statement.

His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim takes over the throne from Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah effective Jan 31, 2024. The Chief Minister also expressed the people of Sabah’s gratitude to the outgoingYang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah for his visit to Sabah in the Jelajah Kembara Borneo programme.

“We in Sabah will always remember him, the Permaisuri Agong and his family to be a down to earth and close to the people. We wish the royal family good health,” he said.

Keeper of the Rulers Seal, Tan Sri Syed Danial, announced that the Rulers Conference made the decision during its 263rd Meeting (Special) at the Istana Negara on Friday.

He also announced that Sultan Perak Darul Ridzuan Sultan Nazrin Muizzudin Shah had been appointed Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong.-pr/BNN
