LABUAN: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor wants the Asian Supply Base (ASB) management to maximise participation in the oil and gas industry.
“Petronas has stated that it want 30 per cent participation from Sabah companies but so
far participation has not been very encouraging.
“We must make sure we achieve the 30 per cent target,” said Hajiji in his maiden working
visit to ASB here today.
With the Sipitang Oil and Gas Industrial Park (SOGIP) on the mainland now nearly full,
ASB must take advantage of opportunities in the oil and gas industry.
“ASB under the Sabah Energy Corporation (SEC) is one of the State Government’s key
GLC. It is important for ASB to diversify its business in the oil and gas industry,” he said
after a breifing by ASB Chairman Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman and Chief Executive Officer Japar Esteban on the company’s future plan.
Among them are the construction of the Crew Change facility that will serve as the Customs, Immigration and Security processing centre for workers going into Sabah
waters and the proposed expansion of the quay wharf estimated to cost RM240 million.
Also present were Labuan Corporation Chairman Senator Tan Sri Anifah Aman and State Secretary Datuk Seri Panglima Sr Safar Untong.-pr/BNN
