KOTA KINABALU: Young entrepreneurs are urged to come forward and drive the state’s economic development by adopting smart technology, especially in the field of industrial automation in the trade and service sectors.
“We, the young generation of entrepreneurs, must leverage on our technological knowledge and skills, coupled with the excellent teachings of our predecessors, to spearhead the development of a modern and prosperous Sabah,” said Shawn Tan Cen Wen, chairman of the of the Sabah Branch of the Malaysian-China Chamber of Commerce Youth Entrepreneurs Committee.
“We want to use the platform of this chamber to spread these excellent ways of thinking among the people in our business circle, work together, and establish a strong business community,” emphasised Tan during its Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at Lupa Café, Luyang.
Tan also revealed that more activities will be held this year to further strengthen relations between Malaysia and China , as this year marks the fiftieth anniversary of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations.
Among the major activities include the Sabah-China Expo in November, whereby members will be able to utilised the knowledge and skills acquired in organizing past activities such as  the Sabah Chinese Economic Congress, working visit to Guangzhou and Chinese New Year Gala Dinner in 2023 to enhance their leadership skills.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Malaysian-China Chamber of Commerce Youth Entrepreneurs Committee (Sabah Branch) Yee Tsai Yiew said that young entrepreneurs should promote technological progress and be the driving force behind the development of a digital economy in the state.
“They can drive industry upgrades and economic diversification through innovation and entrepreneurship. By increasing competitiveness and productivity, entrepreneurs can create more employment opportunities for the local community.”
She pointed out that these efforts will not only have a positive impact on Sabah’s economy but also lay a solid foundation for the future, making significant contributions towards Sabah’s development into a modern and thriving state.
During its AGM, the committee also welcomed 14 new members.-pr/BNN
