KOTA  KINABALU: Malaysia Day celebrations are held alternately between Sabah, Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia, and this year, it is Sabah’s turn to host the national-level Malaysia Day Celebration, said Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Datuk Christina Liew.

She said this in her welcoming address when co-chairing the Malaysia Day Celebration 2024 Main Committee Meeting No. 1 Year 2024 with Minister of Communications Fahmi Fadzil at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) on Monday.

“Today’s meeting is a continuation of the Malaysia Day Celebration Working Committee 2024  No. 1 Year 2024 which was jointly chaired by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Communications and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment on August 5,” Liew said.

According to her, prior to Monday’s meeting, at the Sabah state level, several coordination meetings were held such as the main committee level (chaired by her) and also at the working committee level to ensure this year’s celebration runs well. There are altogether 14 working committees to oversee the necessary preparations.

“I hope that through today’s meeting, we will be able to work together to ensure the implementation of the Malaysia Day celebration 2024 will be a resounding success.

“With the cooperation, support, and commitment given by all parties, I am confident that this year’s Malaysia Day celebration will be smooth and vibrant,” Liew concluded.

 

Also present were the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Communications Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment Josie Lai, and representatives from State and Federal Departments and Agencies.-ends
