TUARAN: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor wants Jetama Sdn Bhd to expand its solar-powered nano-filtration drinking water system to more areas in the interior.

“This system developed by Jetama Sdn Bhd, is good as it can supply treated water from tube wells to places where clean water cannot be supplied,” he said after visiting the newly installed facility at Kampung Baru-Baru here today.

“The people at Kampung Baru-Baru have never been able to enjoy treated water supply before because the village is located so far from the water mains. I thank Jetama for installing the facility here,” he said.

Hajiji noted that the system, which utilises solar power or a battery bank to run the water treatment process, is suitable for rural and remote areas, as well as islands in Sabah.

“I told Jetama to consider installing the system in more remote villages,” he said.

Costing about RM1.2 million, the self-powered mobile drinking water system, which has a capacity of producing 30,000 litres of water daily is equipped with sensors and controllers to monitor water quality and system performance, adjusting operations as needed.

The treated water is stored in tanks and can be distributed to households through pipes or distribution systems. Also present were Deputy Chief Minister III/Works Minister Datuk Shahelmey Yahya and Jetama Chairman Datuk Yusuff Manan.-pr/BNN
