TAMBUNAN: Sekolah Agama Negeri (SAN) Pekan Tambunan, which was gutted by fire on October 12, received RM260,000 contributions from the State Government, Yayasan Kebajikan Sabah (YKS) and the Sabah Islamic Religous Council (MUIS).
The contributions of RM200,000 to purchase chairs, desks and school equipment from the State Government, RM50,000 from YKS and RM10,000 from MUIS were presented by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor during his visit to the school today.
SAN headmaster, Ustaz Ahmad Subri Janing received the contributions.
YKS also presented contibutions in in cash and kind to 20 boarders and 100 pupils affected by the fire.
The Chief Minister said it was time for the SAN Pekan Tambunan, established in the 1970s, to get its permanent building, and at the request of SAN, I propose that it be rebuilt.
“The present State Government will approve the funding needs and I am here today to see where we can help,” he said.
Two buildings including classrooms and boarding house were razed while the school’s teachers quarters were also affected in the Oct 12 evening fire.
Also present were Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Datuk Ariffin Arif, District Officer Sobitul Makajil, State Islamic Religious Affairs (JHAEINS) Director Jumain Abdul Ghani and YKS Director Datuk Diyanah Abdullah.-pr/BNN
