SANDAKAN: The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Sandakan Zone, held on 19 July 2026 at the party premises, successfully attracted over 130 members, reflecting a spirit of unity and high discipline among party members.
In his speech at the event, the Party President, Datuk Seri Panglima Yong Teck Lee, highlighted the urgent need to develop the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector to ensure small traders remain resilient amidst economic uncertainties compounded by increasing geopolitical tensions in the region. He announced that SAPP will organise suitable training programmes tailored to each sector to assist MSME entrepreneurs, and those requiring guidance and advisory services can register at the SAPP Sandakan Zone Office.
Concluding his speech, Datuk Seri Panglima Yong stressed that efforts to build and strengthen the economy must be Sabah’s top priority at this time. “Only with a strong and sustainable economy can Sabah continue to progress and enhance the well-being of its people,” he said.
Also delivering a speech was the Sandakan Zone Chairman, Datuk Richard Yong, who reminded members of the importance of unity within the party and SAPP’s commitment to continue working harder to serve the people.
Meanwhile, Vice President Thomas Lau expressed confidence that SAPP will bounce back even stronger soon, playing a vital role in advancing Sandakan’s development through a strong voice and innovative ideas to unlock the district’s economic potential. He also reaffirmed that SAPP’s leadership team remains steadfast and united in the struggle to improve the lives of Sabahans.
This year’s Sandakan Zone AGM also saw all Supreme Council members deliver speeches emphasising SAPP’s resilience and perseverance in facing various challenges since the last State Election. Overall, the AGM was a success, uplifting the spirit of unity and members’ commitment to jointly advance Sabah.-pr/BNN
