KOTA KINABALU: Maxim Malaysia has proudly partnered with Sabah’s patriotic festivities, supporting the Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) 2026 initiative organised by the Sabah State Information Department (JAPEN). This collaboration marks a significant step in strengthening community spirit ahead of Malaysia’s National Day.
The event commenced at Menara Kinabalu and journeyed through Jalan Tuaran and Jalan Damai, attracting over 1,000 residents. The celebration culminated at the Foh Sang multi-storey car park, where 100 Maxim driver-partners received food hampers — including rice, cooking oil, eggs, and essentials, graciously handed out by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Chan Foong Hin.
“When I received the food parcel, I felt truly appreciated. We transport people daily, and this gesture from Maxim and the government means a lot,” shared Ahmad, a 38-year-old driver from Kota Kinabalu.
Mohd Hazwan Musley, Director of Maxim Malaysia, expressed pride in the partnership: “Becoming the official partner of Kembara Merdeka 2026 is a great honour. It’s a meaningful way for us to foster patriotic spirit in Sabah. The Information Department has done incredible work uniting the community, and we’re delighted to stand with them. This partnership isn’t just about transport — it’s about becoming part of Sabah’s social fabric.”
The programme united key government agencies, the Royal Malaysia Police, Kota Kinabalu City Hall, and the District Education Office, with Maxim serving as a vital link between Sabah’s patriotic celebrations and its driver community, which keeps the state moving every day.
Supporting KMJG 2026 aligns with Maxim Malaysia’s expansion across East Malaysia. Over the past year, the number of registered driver-partners has increased, with services extending beyond Kota Kinabalu to neighbouring districts. Community engagement remains a core element of the company’s regional growth strategy.
This initiative kicks off a month of festive activities leading up to National Day on 31 August. As an official partner, Maxim will continue collaborating with JAPEN to promote National Day and Sabah Day in additional towns and run joint road safety campaigns during the holiday season.
