KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor received a courtesy call from the High Commissioner of Canada to Malaysia, HE Jodi Robinson, at Menara Kinabalu here today.
Hajiji welcomed Robinson’s visit and expressed hope that cordial relations between Sabah and Canada would continue to strengthen, particularly through exploring trade and investment opportunities.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister briefed the High Commissioner on Sabah’s focus on the Blue Economy, including the aquaculture sector’s potential, which offers opportunities for collaboration with Canadian investors and strategic partners.
He also highlighted that Sabah’s industrial parks are ready to receive foreign investment, including the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP), Palm Oil Industrial Cluster (POIC) Lahad Datu, Kudat Blue Economy Industrial Park, Sipitang Oil and Gas Industrial Park (SOGIP), among others.
Hajiji hoped the visit would pave the way for greater cooperation and more Canadian investment opportunities in Sabah, contributing to the State’s economic growth and development.
Canada had previously expressed its intention to expand bilateral ties and trade with Malaysia in sectors including agriculture, healthcare, information and communications technology (ICT), artificial intelligence (Al), semiconductors and educational exchanges.-pr/BNN
