KOTA KINABALU: Plaza Shell held its 4th annual Christmas Charity Bazaar from Dec 12th to 13 last year in aid of St. Theresa Hostel at Kota Marudu, Sabah.
Twelve vendors, comprising both tenants and non-tenants participated in the event.
“The purpose of this charity event is not only to aid children in need but also to instill the
Christmas spirit amongst all and to create awareness of Plaza Shell,” Javed Irshad Sani, Senior Leasing and Facilities Management Manager of Plaza Shell, shared.
Each participating vendor’s booth set-up incorporated the Christmas theme and there was a
colourful variety of items sold such as pastries, brownies, cookies, home-made Christmas cakes,confectionery, festive accessories, clothing, hand-made soap and perfume, plants and flowers and semi-precious stones and crystals among others.
Other activities held during the Bazaar were caroling by Hap Seng Group staff and prize presentation to the top three (3) retail outlets with the best Christmas theme. The winners were Chubs Grill in first place, Der Master Restaurant in second place and SSF Delanco came in third place. Cash prizes were awarded to the winners.
Almost RM3,000.00 was generated through the generosity of the Plaza Shell tenants,
employees of Hap Seng and members of the public. The funds raised were used to purchase an electric water purifier, stationery and linens for the hostel. Other items donated were pre-loved clothes, books and toys. The items were delivered on 12th January after the hostel re-opened for its students.
Sister Olga Mary James, one of the caretakers of the hostel thanked the donors saying, “We thank you from the bottom of our hearts to receive such a thoughtful, generous and kind donation in this time of need from everyone.”
