KOTA KINABALU: Party Warisan Sabah (Warisan) P.173 Putatan through its Chinese Community Affairs Bureau will be holding a Chinese New Year open house (CNY) at Tanjung Aru Township on Feb 1, this year.
Organizing chairperson Ms Judy Hiew, who is also the Bureau Chairman, said Warisan President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal is expected to attend the event which will start at 9.30am.
She said apart from the Chief Minister, the ceremony will also be “hosted by” Sabah State Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Datuk Wong Hong Jun @ Junz Wong who is also the State Assemblyman (DUN) N.17 Tanjung Aru and supported by Datuk Awang Ahmad Sah Datuk Haji Awang Shari who is also the Putatan Warisan Chief.
According to her, the CNY Open House in Tanjung Aru township is being held for the first time.
“In addition to the lion dance and performances such as singing and other entertainment, Shafie will also join other guests in performing the Yee Sang,” she said in a statement issued today.
Hiew also said the Chief Minister will distribute donations to temples and churches.
According to her, senior citizens and children will also receive “angpows” in conjunction with the event.
Hiew, who is also the Deputy Coordinator (N.17 Tanjung Aru) of P.173 Putatan Warisan invites the public, especially those who are in Tanjung Aru, Sembulan and Putatan to come together to celebrate the Warisan CNY Open House.- pr/BNN
