KOTA KINABALU: The police arrested three people during three separate raids for their involvement in drug activities.
City police chief ACP M. Chandra said the arrests were made within 48 hours at three locations around the state capital on July 10.
Police also seized 100.36 grams of syabu and 1,022 grams of marijuana, with a total value of RM13,000.
“In the first case, police from the narcotics division spotted a suspicious man along the old Sembulan Road around 12.20pm.
“As the police approached and introduced themselves, the man immediately ran away prompting police to give chase.
“Investigation at the scene found a plastic packet believed to contain syabu, weighing 50.14 grams,” he said yesterday.
In the second case on July 11, the police detained two men for possessing a black plastic bag that contained crystal-like substances believed to be syabu, weighing about 50.22grams.
The 11.30pm arrest was made in Sinsuran based on public tip-off, said Chandra.
“On July 12, the narcotics police were informed of a suspicious parcel at POS Laju.
“Upon inspection, the police found about 1,022 grams of dried leaves believed to be marijuana.
“No arrest was however made in the 11.30am raid,” said Chandra, adding that no one came to collect the parcel.
The three suspects, aged between 25 and 33, have been remanded and would be investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Chandra also thanked the public for their continuous cooperation with the police in combating drug activities around the state capital. -BP.
