KOTA KINABALU: Adequate housing and related infrastructures in Kimanis will be one of Datuk Karim Bujang’s priorities as Member of Parliament.
Karim who is contesting the Kimanis Parliamentary seat under Party Warisan Sabah said he will ensure that landless constituents such as those who used to work in Kimanis Estate are accorded a place to build their homes.
He said the needs of the people there must be heard and resolved swiftly so that they can live in comfort.
“To ensure that they have prospects for sustainable livelihoods, I will ensure that proper amenities are accorded to them, including roads, bridges as well as water supply and electricity,” he said, adding that such amenities are essential in the people’s everyday life and as such they should be prioritized.
He stressed that that such developments should be distributed fairly among the people, in all the villages as well as the suburban areas and not to a favoured few.
Karim who was voted in five times and was the State Assemblyman for Bongawan said he was familiar with the area and knew what the people needed and wanted.
He said the constituents have appealed to him to return and lead them again, so he decided to take the challenge, stressing that making a difference in the lives of the constituents is motivation in running for the Kimanis Parliamentary Seat and not because of grudges or self interest.
He said since he was dropped in 2013 he has kept a low profile in politics and simply observed the development in his former constituency.
“However, I have noticed and was also informed that the needs of the people have not been met. I thought when someone took over, everything would be looked into.”
“I was informed that there were so many things that were done unfairly. Assistance for the people was unfairly distributed where those close to the community leaders were helped but those who weren’t were ignored.”
“When a person is in need, assistance should be accorded to him no matter what his political belief is.”
Karim’s main contender for the Kimanis Parliamentary seat is Datuk Anifah Aman.-BNN
