KOTA KINABALU: UMNO members in Sabah need to continue be together with the party and its new leadership in fighting for the interests of the people in the State, says Sabah UMNO Liaison Chairman Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor.
He said, although UMNO is now an opposition to the government, this status should not dampen the spirits of all party members in continuing to serve the people and protect the rights and interests of Sabah.
He said the leaders and members of Sabah UMNO now are comprises of fighters who have dignity, sincerity and loyalty in supporting the party’s struggles.
“UMNO were never shaky and instead continue holding on to the true principles of the UMNO struggles.
“UMNO will become a dominant and constructive opposition. We will be the monitoring eyes of the people,” he said.
He said this after chairing the Sabah UMNO Liaison meeting held at the Sabah UMNO building here today.
It is the first meeting chaired by Hajiji since he was appointed as the new Sabah UMNO Liaison Chairman, after the 2018 UMNO election.
Also present were the new State UMNO Secretary Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun, State UMNO Treasurer Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan.
UMNO Supreme Council Member Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Salleh Said Keruak, who is also Kota Belud UMNO Division Chief, also attended the meeting.
Hajiji said those ex-Assemblymen of Barisan Nasional (BN) and UMNO who crossed over and works with Parti Warisan Sabah and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) are elected representatives without principles.
“They betrayed the mandate given by BN/UMNO supporters and voters. Just because of for their personal interests and also for the posts, they left BN/UMNO.
“These traitors would definitely be punished by their voters and the people,” he said.-By L.S.Kuang/BNN
