KOTA KINABALU:  Malaysians especially the Muslim community should unite to oppose efforts and campaigns to legitimize the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community in the country.

Sabah UMNO Women chief Datuk Jainab Ahmad Ayid  said the demand by Activist Datin Marina Mahathir for equal rights and impartiality for LGBT in this country is contrary to the teaching of Islam.

According to her, this demand is improper and should not be entertained by any party, especially Pakatan Harapan (PH) Government led by Marina’s father, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who is also the Prime Minister of Malaysia.

Sabah UMNO Women supports the suggestion by the UMNO Women Chief of Malaysia, Datuk Dr. Noraini Ahmad who wanted swift action by the Government against the LGBT movement, she said adding that the rights of LGBTs have never been denied as they are living their daily life just like anybody else and have full access to all public services and amenities just like any other Malaysians.

Speaking about Marina Mahathir’s comment that there is discrimination against LGBT community in the country, she demanded to know what discriminations have been carried out by the government and the people of this country against the group.

“As a Muslim, Marina is not ignorant about Islam and is aware that LGBT is against Allah’s law and the order of nature,” Jainab said.

“Although their claim is not in the constitution and only in the name of human rights, it still violates Syariah law.  A Muslim who supports this debauched group is wrong in Islam. Recognizing LGBT is the same as insulting Islam.”

She said even other religions such as Christians and Buddhists do not tolerate this culture.

“Instead of fighting for LGBT rights, it is better for Marina to help in rehabilitating these people, especially the Malays,” she said.

“The immoral lifestyle by LGBT groups will contribute to more serious social problems including the spread of HIV and AIDS. In the context of Sabah, the state struggled with incest and ranked highest in this matter,” she said adding that Dr.Mahathir as a leader who is a Muslim, should reprimand his daughter who fight to legitimize LGBT which is against Islam.

“UMNO Sabah is committed in championing the destiny and future of the Bumiputeras in Sabah and will oppose any movement that could lead to the destruction of the state’s social and cultural system.”-By L.S Kuang/BNN
