The Palace Hotel Kota Kinabalu donated food and goodies to 32 orphans at ‘Rumah Anak Yatim dan Asnaf As Sakinah’ sited at Kinarut Papar, recently.
The donation was in conjunction with the fasting month of Ramadan and it included ‘duit raya’ which was presented by the hotel Director of Sales and Communications Stella Moluntang to the caretaker of the orphanage Mohamad Shamsul Ibrahim.
Stella shared that the donation was one of the hotel’s Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) where they give to the less fortunate and ensure that they are not left behind during Ramadan and the impending Hari Raya celebration.
Meanwhile, Mohamad Shamsul in thanking the hotel establishment said the orphanage depended on the general public’s generousity and relied on donations to run the orphanage.
He said the children who stayed in the orphanage were from all over the State and were either children of single parents or actual orphans.
“Ideally, the orphanage need between RM20,000 to RM30,000 to run monthly to run. This include the salary of workers, transportation and food for the children, electricity and water as well as the rent for this place,” he said.
He said they looked forward to establishing a bigger and better orphanage complex so they can house more less fortunate children in future.-ce/BNN
