KOTA KINABALU: In conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration, the Palace Hotel Kota Kinabalu will be offering sumptuous dishes to usher in the Year of the Rat.
They are offering two sets of menu. For the Happiness Set, diners will be served with the Rainbow Fresh Salmon “Yee Sang” to be followed by the Four Seasons Hot & Cold Combination Platter and Braised Fish Maw Soup With Crab Meat.
That will be followed by Deep Fried Sea bass with Ripe Mango Sauce, Crispy Prawn with Nestum and Almond as well as Mixed Vegetable in Bean Curd Skin. The Pineapple Fried Rice with Chicken and Prawn Meat will follow and ends in a sumptuous dessert, Chilled Honey Dew Sago with Vanilla Ice Cream. Drinks will be Chinese Tea. This set is going for RM888 nett per table
The second set of menu comprise of Rainbow Fresh Salmon “Yee Sang” and of course the Four Happiness Hot & Cold Combination Platter followed by Braised Fish Maw Soup with Scallop and Deep Fried Grouper Fish with Nyonya Sauce. Diners will also get to enjoy Steamed Chicken in Bouillon
and Crispy Fried Yam Ring with Prawn followed by Stir Fried Broccoli with Braised Shiitake Mushroom and Black Moss.
The Eight Treasure Fried rice in Lotus Leaf and Black Glutinous Rice Soup Served with Scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream come afterwards. Chinese Tea is served with this dinner which cost RM988 nett per table.
These two sets of menu are available to diners from Jan 6 to Feb 9.
They will also be holding a ‘Chinese New Year Lantern Making Contest’, offering cash prizes worth up to RM1,000.
Its general manager, Chloe Lo explained that the winning lanterns will be judged based on their theme, ‘Family as We Celebrate Moments Together’.
“Entries must used recycled materials that support the Palace Hotel’s green hotel status,” she said during a media luncheon on Monday.
The contest is open now to primary school pupils, aged from seven to 12 years. No entry fee is required, and the deadline to submit the completed lanterns to the hotel is Jan 23. The winners will be announced on Jan 30.
The winner stand to win will ang pao worth RM300, free stay in the newly refurbished room with breakfast for two adults and two children, one-year pool access membership and set meal for four persons as well as certificate.
The first to second runners-up will each get ang pows of RM200 and RM100. They will both also enjoy similar perks as the winner except there won’t be free stays.
Besides the main prize, there will be seven consolation ang pows worth RM50 each for the subsequent winners.-BNN
