KOTA MARUDU:Warisan-led Sabah Government’s decision to scrap the controversial Sabah Temporary Pass is a victory for Sabahans.
Describing it as the right decision, Parti Bersatu Sabah President Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili said that Sabah does not need the PSS.
“The scrapping of PSS is, indeed, a victory for the people of Sabah. We have said it over and over that this proposed document is destructive to Sabah’s sovereignty, security and people’s livelihood,” said Ongkili, today.
He stressed that there are better ways to resolve the illegal immigrants problem than resorting to PSS.
“There is a need to form a select committee in the State Assembly or Parliament, and PBS elected representatives will be there to help and contribute.
“We commend Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal for respecting the voices of Kimanis voters, PBS and other opposition parties, as well as the overall Sabahans.
“We hope and pray they will honour this decision because the Pakatan Harapan-Warisan governments are famous for u-turns,” Ongkiki stressed.
He added that on PBS’ side, they will continue to fight and speak up to ensure that the ruling government will honour their words to scrap the implementation of PSS.
“PBS promise the people of Sabah taht we will speak up and oversee that the PH-Warisan governments fully scrap the PSS,” he said.-pr/BNN
