KOTA KINABALU: Persatuan Murut Sabah (PMS) thank the Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for setting up a new Federal Ministry for Sabah and Sarawak Affairs.
In a statement by it’s president Datuk Rubin Balang, it shows the PM is sincere and committed to solving the issues relating to MA63.
He said they also congratulate and fully support YB Datuk Dr. Maximus Ongkili to helm the new Federal Ministry for Sabah And Sarawak Affairs.
“We believe Dr. Max (as he is known in Sabah) being an experienced former federal minister and a Sabahan will be able to resolve the issues regarding MA63 in particular, the rights and status of Sabah and Sarawak once and for all. PMS is ready and willing to assist in giving the feedbacks and comments regarding in particular the rights and status of the natives in Sabah under MA63,” he said.
Both Sabah and Sarawak are represented in the Federal government, the lawmakers and the legal experts from both States can come together and present a united stand as to the necessary amendments to be made to the Federal Constitution to recognise MA63 and to resolve the equal status of Sabah and Sarawak in the Federation, he stated.
” We hope the present leader today will not repeat the same mistakes as the previous failed to make sure the MA 63 for the right of privilege Borneo Sabah and Sarawak,” he added
According to him, the issues with MA63 have been long outstanding, and they hope all the members of Parliament from Sabah and Sarawak together with their counterparts from peninsula Malaysia will support and vote in favour of the amendments to the Federal Constitution in due course.-pr/BNN
